Artist Statement
I consider humor to be an essential coping mechanism. I have often used humor as a device in my work bringing attention to the more critical issues at hand. My work is heavily influenced by my own life experience, family, friends and pop culture. An interest in the subtleties of human emotions can be traced throughout my work. To elicit this humor, I use many mediums such as photographic self-portraiture, sculpture, painting, installation, performance, video and text.
These images are from an installation entitled, Relocation Beige. This work includes a series of large-scale paintings that reference furniture showrooms and mail order catalogs. These paintings and other works allude to a psychological space of heightened anticipation.
